October 14th 2008 on a bright and sunny Las Vegas morning, I did my first skydive. After exhaustive research, I had chosen SkydiveLasVegas.com for my 3 mile high tandem jump.
I had the jump recorded (the tandem master had a DV camera strapped to his wrist) and it was edited and sent to me in the mail as a set of DVD and CD.
Here are the pictures on flickr.
It was an awesome and unreal experience!
One moment I was on my knees with this guy strapped to my back and leaning slightly into the wind from the open airplane door opening, and the next moment we leaned all the way out and started the free fall!
The free fall was actually pretty nice, after a second or two of terror. I swear my sweat smelled terrible that day and the next.
After the parachute unfolded, it was a very silent glide down with beautiful views over Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and Las Vegas in the distance. The only thing I was not too happy about was when the tandem master decided to show off and did some barrel rolls. That upset my balance nerves and got me a bit queasy. But I managed to hold it together and we completed the glide and came down perfectly.
If you haven’t tried a skydive yet, you have a very special experience coming!
Have a great day!

That’s awesome Odinn,
I’m sure it was an experience you will never forget.
My girlfriend’s daughter went for her first time last week.
She is traveling in New Zealand and did the tandem jump from 15,000
feet, we saw pics and video of her and she wants to do it again.
I imagine you are pumped to do it again yourself.
Congrats to you for being so brave and adventurous.
Regards,
Mitch
