I don’t know about you, but New Years resolutions have a tendency to be bright in your mind as you make them (often while “a little” under the influence), then fade away quickly once the hangovers set in and reality bites.

So this year I have decided to NOT make any New Years resolutions, but instead wrote down a number of New Years Affirmations instead!

Affirmations are positive statements about something, stated as if they are already true. You spend a few minutes every days, like in the morning and evening, reading them and reflecting on them. For better effect, write them out and put some on your mirror, at your desk or some other place where you see them every day.

I had a great workout on the new machine, but when I was done I noticed something odd - one of the pedals kept bumping into the stand below, and upon closer inspection I see that the left pedal attachment is bent!

Yes, it’s true - I BROKE THE NEW MACHINE TOO!

It might not be so noticable on the picture, but the arm sticking out of the center column is bent (see where the arrow points). Hey I’m not THAT heavy, so there must have been some manufacturing fault. Argh. Now I have to go return it and hope they have a replacement unit.

But I’m not giving up on the step/twist machine, I’ll get a new one. It’s my favorite, dang it!

I’m still waiting for Eben Pagan to release some new great stuff for you guys, but in the mean time you might want to revisit the first free video - or watch it for the first time if you haven’t yet.

A couple of marketing lessons

If you look carefully at the picture, you’ll see three more things in addition to the broken twist stepper.

1. An apology card and a box (containing delicious Gourmet Fudge Brownies) with a red bow on from SendOutCards. That is a gift from Russell Brunson and his affiliate manager, because they goofed with an affiliate check that bounced. Not only did they replace in full the costs I incurred because of the bounce, but they also sent this apology package. Now THAT is customer service that is worth sitting up and taking notice of! - Do you think I might be MORE or less inclined to work with these cool guys in the future? - Thank you Brent Coppieters and Russell Brunson for this great marketing lesson.

2. An oversized postcard saying “What kind of car does Perry Marshall drive?”. Again, do you think I might pay special attention to what Perry Marshall has to say with that card?  Absolutely. Great lesson Perry, thanks. You get free backlinks from me for that. You know where to send the chocolate and/or check, hehehe.

The remainder of the sunday I was visiting my sister to fix her virus-infested media center PC. NOTE TO SELF: Always, always schedule gobs of time when going to “fix a pc”. Inevitably all the windows updates, virus scannings and stuff take hours and hours and hours. Gaah!

Today is day 6 of integrating my morning success ritual. I didn’t have my trusty old step machine, which I broke on saturday, so I had to use my exercise bike, which I don’t like so much. Prefer my real bike, but didn’t want to head out this morning. So I got though the morning ritual, but it wasn’t as satisfying as usual.

Later I went and bought myself a replacement for the step machine, a new “twist stepper”.

I did a little test (please don’t laugh!) and it seems to be at least as good as the old one, so I’m looking forward to giving it a full workout tomorrow on day 7.

Today I was hoping to be able to send you to a new video, tool or something from Eben Pagan, but unfortunately at the time of writing I haven’t hard of any new stuff. I’m sure it won’t be long though, because the launch of Wake Up Productive is scheduled for september 23rd, in a little over a week from now.

I do have a bit of exciting news though, which is that I am 99.9% sure that I will have Eben Pagan as a guest on my Blog Talk Radio show on the 22nd or 23rd, where we will be discussing his new product Wake Up Productive. As soon as I have the date and time nailed down, I’ll be sure to let you know. That is one show you DON’T want to miss!

Yesterday on day 3, I was beginning to feel a bit of resistance in my mind against the new ritual (which is natural), but I plowed through it and completed anyway.

Well today I saw a different kind of resistance - my exercise equipment broke down!

I had been stepping away at it full tilt and was almost done, when I heard a grinding noise and a SNAP as the step-machine I use broke down. See the pictures above and below. Huh!

Guess it’s time to get a new one then …

Anyway, I was just in the middle of a powerful tune right then, so barely breaking a beat, I switched to a “combat dance” routine instead and finished the execise on a strong note. I wish I had a camera on, it was probably a pretty hilarious sight!

After that I finished the other elements of the morning ritual, i.e. a meditation and self-hypno session, reading a couple of chapters in Brendon Burchards Life’s Golden Ticket, eating a healthy meal and took a shower.

I am feeling better every day. This is really good stuff - I am very grateful to Eben for putting this material out there. There is a lot more than this he has to offer, even in the free video, but the morning routine is such a fundamental thing that it’s important to integrate as a habit as early as possible.

This morning was day 2 performing my version of the “morning success ritual” that he describes in the video, and I feel great. I heard it live for the first time when Eben presented it at Yanik Silvers Underground seminar Los Angeles in march, and did it for a while with good results. However my travels broke up the routines and I didn’t get back to it until now. It’s important to perform the routine or “ritual” consistently for at least 30 days, so that it becomes a habit that you just do, instead of a chore.

This is my personal morning success ritual:

Wake up.
Drink 1/2 liter of water.
Do my morning bathroom business.
Exercise for about 20-30 minutes.
Meditate or listen to a self-hypnosis program for 5-10 minutes.
Take a shower. (That’s often where I get my best ideas).
Read a chapter or two from an inspiring book.
Eat a healty meal for breakfast.

And then I’m ready to face the day with great energy and a fresh clear mind.
